I'm starting a number of t-shirt quilts from the shirts I've been hoarding for decades [I mean my "collection" ] and being the "waste not" type, was wondering what to do with the parts of the t-shirt that aren't going to go into the quilt.

I don't really want them, but if someone has a use for them, I would be happy to send them to you for cost of shipping.

If nobody wants them, is this the sort of thing that can go into a donation box where the old clothes are shredded for other purposes? Or is it off to the landfill with this stuff? I suppose if I made paper, I could use it for that, but I don't make paper.

I tear them into strips and use them to tie tomato plants. But I have plenty so don't need them but maybe you can use them for that. I had a friend who made a hook rug out of T-shirt strips.

I use them to make a pieced binding for the t-shirt quilt!

I also use the larger pieces for rags. T-shirts are great rags for cleaning windows and polishing.

I cut them into squares at least 12 inches, and leave a basket it in the kitchen, on the counter. I have cut down on my paper towel purchases by probably 70%....
Just use all day (or once, depending on what you are wiping) and toss into a load of laundry
