I make t-shirt quilts as a small side business. I modified the Too Cool T-shirt method by adding blocks of fabric in between. You can purchase the too cool book at http://www.toocooltshirtquilts.com/ (I have no affiliation with Too Cool). They don't add backing to their t-shirts but I do. I use 906-F. I FMQ the entire top but I don't stitch over the logo itself. Using their random block method it is easier to incorporate odd sized logos into the quilt. Pic of my work attached. Good luck to you!

I also use the Too Cool T-shirt method. I cut the T-shirts based on the size of the logo on the shirt. The Too Cool T-shirt method uses sizes in increments of 4 inches ( cut 4 1/2 x 4 1/2, 4 1/2 x 8 1/2, etc) up to 16 1/2 x 16 1/2. I use leftover T-shirt fabric to fill in the 'holes' (since not all blocks are the same size). Here is one that I did. This quilt is queen size. The red rectangle was left over T-shirt fabric with no logo. I do NOT use interfacing to back the T-shirts.

thanks for everyone's input. The pics of the quilts are outstanding. They have given me some great ideas.

If I've got a bunch of smaller ones, I'll take the BACK of one of the shirts that I don't use (and doesn't have a logo) and sew the smaller ones on it. Keeps all the blocks the t-shirt fabric.

Do you have enough small ones to make into an actual quilt block? If not mix them with the cottons to balance and finish the block (maybe a four patch or split rail or even a log cabin). And I would interface the cotton to balance out the weight.

Joyce that is what I was thinking of doing with the extra pieces. A member in my guild did a lecture last year and she suggested either doing horizontal or diagonal rows of the the blocks. i guess I don't want it so structured. I'll post once I get going with them. Thanks to all.
