T-shirt quilt

I have been asked to do a T-shirt quilt. How do you decide what to charge for your time?

If you go online, you will find companies that make these types of quilts. They usually charge by the shirt, between $25 - $50, but this includes materials. Remember that you will also need stabilizer in addition to fabric, batting and thread. If you do decide to take this on, please get everything in writing, include as much info as you can regarding the materials used, estimated finish date, estimated final price etc.
And whatever you do, make sure that you get a non-refundable deposit so at least your materials outlay will be covered. State that the deposit is non-refundable in your invoice.

A guild member does them for the public and charges $30 a shirt. She is always sewing on one.

I'm in the KC area and make them for others. I charge 9cents/sq inch (includes bat, backing, sashing and border fabrics, plus all labor). A friend does them for $20/shirt to start with--then it goes up if there is any need to do design work due to different size logos, etc. We have figured it and by the sq. inch is little pricer with smaller quilts, but less with largerquilt. If you have to send out to be L.A., be sure you figure that cost into your expenses. I have done a couple of queen size, but they are hard to work on, so if you're planning on any size and will quilt with your DMN be sure your fee relects this.
