My first experience with the T-Shirt quilt was three years ago when a granddaughter sent me her high school t-shirts as asked if I could make one for her college dorm. What an adventure. Since then my only quilting I do is this type. I have done lap quilts using knit gowns belonging to deceased friends to give to families.
Also larger quilts cut fabrics from children s outgrown clothing. I call them "remember me" quilts. I am now on my 4th large one.
As I cut the clothing apart, press pieces and always back the pieces with lightweight fusing as some of the pieces have been stretched.............Love doing this.....Never sure what the finished project is going to be.

Your quilt is fabulous. I am working on a tshirt quilt for our band raffle. The medallion middle front, I have pictured. Now to get a bunch of people to donate their shirts. Our school's budget is cut really bad and the band trips are all self paid by the 120 members of the band. I am really excited in doing this.

made applique for the middle front of the quilt

What an incredible undertaking. Good luck on the sale. Should bring in a lot of money.

the last site I checked out was charging $400 to $600 for a pretty basic, block to block t-shirt quilt. It was a la carte too -- you could add on until it was a very expensive endeavor.

I can believe it, It is funny, I had my son's ex-girlfriends mom call me about making one for the ex-girlfriend, and I told her $150 minimum. Never heard from her again.

Since I posted this I have developed the following prices: 16 blocks 325.00; 20 blocks 375.00;25 blocks 400.00; and 30 blocks 425.00. I provide the fabric, batting and thread and this includes sashing. Put it on my facebook page and I have 6 quilts to make by Christmas....4 from people I know and 2 from an ex room mate of a friend of mine in Tampa.

I have t shirts from my youngest girl's high school and college days....I need to put them in a quilt. I found a website and the price for someone else to do it was absolutely prohibitive for me......will try and figure it out on my own. Prices I saw were around $300 and UP !

saw you are from Alma, Ga., I'm from Atl and my daughter went to Reinhardt College in Waleska !

Too, my DBIL had run the Peachtree for more than 25 years and wants me to make him a quilt;even for him, I can't discount it enough....so much work !

You'll need to watch this though. Some shirts may need bigger blocks and some smaller due to size of the design.

I've been making t-shirt quilts part time for the last 8 years. I try to always buy the material and add it to the bill (too many nightmares with what some people pick out). My website is www.nanasquilting.com if you want to check out my prices. Kind of amazing to me that in 8 years I've never run out of orders. Even during this horrible economy, people still have money for these. Prices may seem high but I'm not making a killing. Everybody that makes quilts know how time consuming this can be.

please note that my blocks are 12 x 12 blocks. If a t shirt has a design that is larger, it becomes a custom quilt and I adjust the blocks to fit the t shirt design
