Table Runner

2 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone.... got another project done and would like for y'all to tell me which way y'all like it...with the tie in the middle of the red square or not with tie in the middle of red square.... Been working on this a little here and there while still working on my 2.5" block friendship and nine patch quilt...I am going to tea dye this runner as well.... I know my stiches are not perfect but I like the way it looks.... and when I tea dye it, it's gonna look even better...

Quilt4u 09-11-2014 05:25 AM

I like it without.

Homespun 09-11-2014 05:41 AM

It looks ok with.

marcycn 09-11-2014 05:43 AM

Much prefer the tie. :-) Looks finished to me.

KSellers 09-11-2014 06:48 AM

I like the ties too!

Ariannaquilts 09-11-2014 07:24 AM

I like without best.

QUILTNMO 09-11-2014 07:25 AM

i like them both!!!

joyful1 09-11-2014 07:43 AM

I like it both ways, but if you want a flat surface to set things like candle holders or candy dish (you get the idea), then I would go without.

So do I QuiltnMo..... I was making this one for an event for this weekend and couldn't decide which way I was gonna go with it, so that's why I wanted to ask others which way they like it best... I will decide tonight , with or without and then tea dye it....
Next time I will make some with and without....

lynnie 09-11-2014 08:07 AM

I like it without.
It's very pretty

QuiltnNan 09-11-2014 08:42 AM

i like it both ways, but if forced to choose i'd do it without... just personal preference

tammyg 09-11-2014 05:45 PM

Ok... thank y'all for your help... going with---- without.......

Geri B 09-12-2014 04:19 AM

No tie, but I would echo another square within your squares......with the big stitches.....that's in now!

Good idea... thank I might do that...... :-)

I like it without but it's what you like. This is going to sound crazy but I did one similar to this one for a gift and I just happened to find small buttons that were red and white, I sewed those in the middle and she really liked it, matter a fact I was asked to make 2 more. You never want to take your finished product to work to give to the person that you made it for, before you know it you've got requests.:o

Another good idea.... and you are so right... I have done that before too.... and got really busy making more stuff for people......

quiltmaker52 09-12-2014 11:58 AM

I like both of them, but really prefer the first. I do think it could use something more in the middle. Maybe stitch diagonally across the center blocks. How do you do your tea dye?

ccthomas 09-12-2014 06:06 PM

I would go without. I can't wait to see the table runner tea dyed.

bearisgray 09-12-2014 06:13 PM

maybe more stitching in the squares with the ties. I like it better without the ties.

nwm50 09-13-2014 02:30 AM

Without tie....nice runner!

redneckwoman 09-13-2014 03:07 AM

I like the one without the ties

illinois 09-13-2014 04:15 AM

I like it without, too. Not knowing how the recipient is going to use the runner, I'd try to make it as flat of a surface as possible in case she wants to set something in the middle of the stars. Maybe do some quilting in that space. Was going to suggest a button instead of the tie but then that creates a bump, too.

northerncreations 09-13-2014 04:19 AM

I agree with joyful1. Great job

tellabella 09-13-2014 04:58 AM

No ties...nice runner...

bibi 09-13-2014 06:15 AM

They are both lovely, but I do like it with the tie in the center best.

madamekelly 09-13-2014 07:46 AM

Just a thought, but if you sew a second row of stitching in the red squares maybe half way between the center and first stitching, you would have the reinforcement, and not lump from the tie. I can't wait to see it tea dyed. I have heard of it, but never actually seen something tea dyed.

maryellen2u 09-13-2014 10:48 AM

I like it without. Nice work. I like your stitching.

mjhaess 09-13-2014 04:17 PM

Looks good both ways. Do what you like the best....

Oklahoma Suzie 09-13-2014 05:12 PM

I tie all my runners, so I like the ties.

OldHairTwister 09-13-2014 05:21 PM

I like it best without, both for looks and keeping it flat. Maybe you could give us a mini tute on how you tea dye as it seems like several of us don't know how to do it.

tammyg 09-14-2014 08:39 AM

Love all the comments from y'all.... great ideas from everyone.... will post another pic of it after I tea die it again.... didn't turn out the way I was hoping.....I think I didn't use enough tea... :-)

fred singer 09-14-2014 12:14 PM

lovely table topper

Rose S. 09-14-2014 12:33 PM

I think I like it without. One time I look at it and sort of like it with, but then again I glance back at it and it looks like a thread that needs to be removed. But either way, it is pretty.
