I know this is not a new idea but I'm wondering if anyone has done this. I am making a Christmas table runner; while I was thinking about the backing I thought why not make the back a fall, Thanksgiving theme and then I would have 2 runners in one. Get it out for the fall and then just turn it over for Christmas. I've never had an original ieal in my life and this one is too easy to not have been thought of and made.

Sounds like a winner!

Wish I'd thought of that when I was making my fall tablerunner. Great idea! I might do that for next year.
Great idea.
I'm sure someone has already thought of it but it's still an excellent idea :D :D

Years ago I bought a round quilted table runner that was Chistmas on one side and fall on the other. I use it every year for Thanksgiving on thru Christmas.
Every runner I make I do as a double sided runner, that way it takes up less space in storage and easy to just flip from one side to another.
Yes... I have done this many times when making gift runners and placemats. It is really a nice way to make them. I try and choose fall and winter fabrics that coordinate well enough that choosing a binding isn't a problem.
I have one that a friend made me before I started quilting. It is Christmas on one side and Fall on the other.
Does anyone do piece work for both sides? that is a good idea for the one that I am making my DM
I like the idea of it being dual duty!!! Pieced on both sides would be awesome :D :D D:
That's a great idea! I need to make a gift for DH to give to someone at work, this is a good one. Thanks!
I have one. It's a pieced Thanksgiving runner - turkeys, pumpkins, autumn colors on one side and then a festive Christmas fabric on the other side.
I made the same pattern for front and back and did the different seasons to make reversible. Here is the link if you would like to look at them http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-21060-1.htm

Not a table runner, but years ago my sister made me a reversible apron w/ Thanksgiving one side and Christmas on the other. It's great. And, like you said, I hang it in my kitchen at Thanksgiving, then flip it over and keep it hung throught the Christmas season.
great idea

Talk to my kids, nieces and nephews...I made them all reversible ones and working on 8 more now for the grandkids. Some have birthday on one side, the other some other special thing they enjoy, Halloween and Thanksgiving, Christmas reverses to winter scapes and so on...everyone loves them and they make wonderful gifts whether it is a runner or set of place mats. Go for it.

These are beautiful. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Now that is one very bright sister. So I guess I will have to be that sister for mine
I just made a table runner with thanksgiving on one side and christmas on the other. It is pieced, and I quilted it with SID, but I found it hard to get the quilting even on both sides. Any suggestions. Except for the quilting part, it turned out really cute. I used a binding that matched both sides.
That sounds like a great idea to me. Good thinking on your part.
That's a great idea! Saves time looking for them, saves money making 1 instead of 2. I wish I had thought of that when I made mine.
I did this with place mats
I did a reversable quilted all at the same time. I would take pictures but I haven't a clue how to do it but I love the ones all the other members pass on.
Great idea!!!

When I make mine, I generally make it where they are the same sizes and then sew edges together inside out, then flip and sew opening closed. That way I don't have to worry about the binding matching both sides. I also do not generally quilt mine, just tack a little bit in a couple of spaces down the middle so they don't shift when washing or being used. Especially if I use different piecing patters for each side.
