Tackling the Bucket List

Here goes....... launching into a quilting adventure that will meet three goals in one swoop. I recently bought some batik squares in gradations of blue from very light to very dark, and came home itching to use them. After lots of fabulous suggestions (thanks, everybody), lots of pattern searching and lots of planning; I've decided to make a quilt of tumbling blocks which has been on my to-do list for ages. Added to this whole project, I'm going to English paper piece the blocks thus fulfilling yet another wanna-try project. I'm anticipating a long time of carrying little pieces of fabric around with me.

So, what have you tried that has been on your list for a while? Trying new things is always so exciting (and frustrating).

Although this was not on my bucket list, I am starting to make a quilt out of baby clothes for a friend of my daughters that i have known for 15 years. I made a quilt for her baby when she was born and really didn't know if she knew I had made it. The baby is 18 months old now, and she asked me if I would do this. Her mother had made one for her with her baby clothes, her mother died when she was seven. So I told her I would love to do it!!

So this is a new challenge for me, very hard the first night to cut up the baby clothes, the second night it was much easier as I was looking at all the clothes I still had to get through. I started ironing the stabilizer on the ones I have cut to break up the project, I haven't started cutting into squares yet. I am trying to stay focused so I can get this done in a decent amount of time.

It is hard to make abucket list and then keep up with it because the list just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

I did a cathedral window wall hanging this year. It has been on my bucket list for a long time. I did it on the machine.

It's great that you were able to satisfy two items on your bucket list with one quilt. Good job!

I am not really the scrappy type, but I just completed my first scrappy quilt. I am still not the scrappy type and will not do another anytime soon.

I did just one paper pieced quilt because I wanted to try it. One was enough for me. LOL!

This is my 3rd yr of quilting & I wanted to learn paper piecing, so I joined a paper piecing group & we're making a Mariner's Compass which has also been on my bucket list. I love it and am having SO much fun!! I also took a Craftsy class (a first for me) and I'm waiting for fabric to start a Jinny Beyer "Moon Glow" quilt for DH. I am just trying to absorb everything like a sponge at this point & am having a blast doing so! Good luck with your project!! Will be anxious to see how it comes out. I like that pattern too.

Exactly! I need to put "Make a list" on my to-do list... LOL! Seriously, I need to make a list of what I want to get done. I started one a while ago & now can't find it... argh!
