I don't have carpet but I could use a rug I have. Otherwise wooden floors.

I was thinking a smooth cylindrical wooden stick the width of the quilt if possible might work just as well and I wouldn't have to move it around as much.

I don't see any nuts here ;) I actually appreciate the visual on how to do the smoothing. The only step I will have to skip this time and replace with temporary spray adhesive is number 5. I have very delicate wool batting which is essentially right off the animal, cleaned up, combed and stretched. I will keep that in mind for the next quilt, however.

Thanks for the rug tip. If I'm all thumbs on the wooden floor, I'll try our rug. :)

i always did it on the floor on a short yarn carpet (persian). the long yarns got caught up in the pins.
