See if this helps you:

This is how I do it, fold the yardage selvage to selvage and turn across the ruler like the tutorial shows.
I do the same with FQ only use a smaller ruler.

JoAnns gave me enough to fill my trunk up! I asked when I was getting some fabric cut and she just kept handing them to me from under the counter. I had to tell her to stop! My son takes them to work and cuts them in half for me. That doubles the amount of boards.

I never heard of returning fabric. Of course I never tried. I figure if I have it cut, it's mine.

I've been told at Joann's that they'll take fabric back if it hasn't been cut after leaving the store(ex: you buy 2.5 yds; you must return 2.5 yds).

Huh? I was told they re-use them and that's why they don't give them away. I have had one or two given to me though.

I bought my fabric boards from MistyMarie's sister. MistyMarie is a QB member from Colorado.

The boards were very reasonably priced and really do the job. I now know what fabric I have and can spot it quickly. I really love 'em.

I think I like you. I think like you do.

I think that you should use what works for you. And I do agree that free is better but some folks don't have the space for those big bolts. I do love the way your "store" looks.

I just fold mine up on my 6" or 8 1/2" ruler, pull the ruler out and stack them. TA-DA no cardboard.
