Silverfish are attracted to sugar which is in starch. Try using "Fabric Sizing", comes in a aerosal can sold right next to the spray starch in the grocery store.

I think they are a lot of fun. I used the Fast 2 Cut template/ruler set, but it would be just as easy with paper piecing. Mine was made as a challenge when I worked at a quilt shop. I encorporated pictures that were taken of my husband and I on a trip to the Bahamas where we went on these underwater aqua scooters.

Well, that is a new look at a storm at sea -- so light and floating -- the blue pieces makes it look like spring flowers.

There is a way to make Storm at Sea paper-pieced. Carol Doak has a book, 50 Fabulous Paper-Pieced Stars (something like that), and you can make the pattern by combining 2 of the star blocks. I don't know which 2, but could check if you would like (this is one I REALLY want to make soon!).

I made a beautiful "Storm At Sea" pattern with an array of blocks to do with sailing/fishing around the border and it turned out beautiful. must have been my 4th quilt and i was taking a class at the time. my teacher insisted it had to be hand pieced but i wanted to do it by machine. i made my patterns from cereal boxes. But, every point came out perfect, including the 4 Mariner Compasses in the corners. Every tip was perfect. And, I was a brand new quilter so don't give up. Take your time and rip if u have to.
