I prefer to cut my fabrics. I have one local shop that will only tear all of your fabric purchases - no cutting allowed.

I generally TEAR..but these days, the fabrics are printed so poorly that you can really mess up a design, especially if it is directional!

I generally cut my fabrics. With tearing you are going to have cut the edge again anyway and you lose an extra inch of fabric. I don't like how it distorts and pulls the edge of the fabric all wonky.

I tear for my backs because if I try to cut it will be guaranteed to be wonky.
Since generally the backs are an all over print, it doesn't matter if it's printed wonky.

Thanks so much - you are all so helpful!!

I know that tearing is supposed to give you the "straight of grain," but it grates my nerves whenever I hear that sound! I vote for cutting.

I like to cut mine. It is easier for me.
