Has anyone used the teflon sheets that you can lay on your sewing machine bed to help with freemotion? I saw that on one of the episodes on quiters tv. I was curious on how it did.

i have one and i did like it very much until the other night.
i have since built the foam table with the vinyl and i went from free motion beginner to free motion advanced overnight. i really can't say enough about how well this foam setup works and it crazy cheap. if you have room to make one in the sewing room you might want to give it a try. here's the youtube clip in case you missed that thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAS25v3ZTk0 |
A friend got one in Paducah, and says it is WONDERFUL!  I will have to try one soon! :?

I llike mine.
I got a good price at http://jhittlesewing.funoverload.com...new_items.html Go about half way down the page. |
Hey Klue,
Thanks for the link, that was quite interesting. I've made quite a few items with the insulation boards, but this is something I've never seen. I might give it a try. :) |
i can't take the credit for the link. i found it in another thread on this forum.
you should totally try it - i'm loving mine. in 3 days i've quilted 5 quilts for hospice care. that would have taken me almost 2 weeks if i didn't have the foam thing. |
I couldn't free motion to save my life, tried for years, but several years ago I bought one of those teflon sheets, it worked like magic, suddenly free motion clicked in my brain & hand movement. I wore out the first sheet by going too fast & sewing thru it, bought another, wore that out but now I don't need it. I can free motion on any machine & totally love it.
Well worth the price! |
I have no experience with the teflon sheet but free motion and I are not yet getting along. I have a work horse of a machine made of cast material so I use either car or floor wax to make the bed and surrounding table more slippery. I only apply it every couple of years but this reminds me I am overdue for the job. I shall do that this morning before I quilt some more.

Where do you find the teflon sheets for quilting or is it the same as the teflon pressing sheets? I have looked online and seem to only find the ones for pressing
