a quilt from LLBean is on craigslist going for $325 and an Amish quilt is going for $40? The llbean one is ugly I think.
Because its by LLBean. DUH! LOL
No really, its all in the name. People that have money (to throw away) will pay that much for a (used catalog) quilt. However someone who appreciates a GOOD quilt would never even think about it! I would snag the Amish quilt in a heart beat! |
because LLBean is a preppy designer and the amish quilt is by some unpretentious woman that's looking to feed her kids.
Prices should be the other way around. If I had money to throw away, I sure wouldn't do it by buying a store bought quilt, no matter the price.
somebody wants their money back?
I just wish I had 40 bucks to spare this week! I wouldn't even try to talk them down.
Some people just don't get it
Until a non quilter makes a quilt from start to finish, they have NO idea how much work goes into them
well I emailed them and asked if they would take 20 for it....don't really have that to spare this week either but I'll find a way. Its the right size for my bed too......If I get it I'll post a pic.

Here's the answer. All the quilts sold atLLBean are imported -- the ads do not say "hand made" -- and if LLBean can get the big bucks, they do. Then the second hand seller is going to do the same. You can be pretty sure the Amish quilt was made in the USA, was done by hand, and is a good value! That's WHY!
