Template question....
Hi! My sewing machine has a slightly rounded top. Is there something I can do to be able to use quilting templates? It's impossible right now to keep a template flat. Thanks for any advice!

What brand and model of machine do you have?

Singer Professional 9100

It probably is the extension table that isn't flat. I have a Singer Quantum and the table does seem to have a slight roundness. It never bothered me, I just ignored it and have used rulers to machine quilt. When the ruler get close to the needle it will be flat enough.

I think if you are using the 1/4 inch thick templates it should be safe to use them with the slight surface curve. If the templates are not thick, I would worry about the slight curve causing the template to move enough that it would slip up enough for the needle to hit it.

I have no real idea but maybe build the area up with a shiny slippery kind of tape to level it? I agree that it would be hard to keep the template flat.
