You know the large plastic template material that you cut into shapes? Is it heat proof? I have found one of my teflon-like applique sheets but I want another to go on top and under the ironing board. Would parchment paper work? I, of course, want it now and all stores are closed. Just thought I'd ask to see if someone has another solution. I do not want to ruin an iron trying to find out! Thanks for any help

Well, most may not be. they do sell Mylar template plastic though that is one you can make templates out of and press with an iron.

Regular template plastic is not heat proof. There is a special Mylar plastic that is.

Thanks! You guys saved my iron!

Try the parchment paper. If it gets messy, you can just throw it away.

I have saved the peel-off paper from Heat'n'Bond to use as a non-stick ironing board protector. Parchment paper CAN be used as a "pressing cloth" for numerous uses before the heat begins to deteriorate it.
