I just cut my first-ever set of templates. I used x-ray film which I heard about somewhere and a friend supplied me with a huge stack! I started by trying to copy the lines with a ruler and then cutting. Had a better idea . . . I put my template sheet of paper on the table, put a small piece of double-backed tape in the corners of all the templates. Put the x-ray film on top where it stuck to the paper. Cut around all the templates. The paper is now stuck to the back side of the templates and I don't have to transfer any piece numbers, colors, or anything. It's all there.

Maybe this is an old trick, but it worked so well for this newbie that I thought I'd share.

Pretty neat you were able to find xray sheets. I wonder where to get them? i have used the notebook plastic dividers. Works okay.

Apparently any place that does x-rays just discards the used sheets or whatever they call them. Just ask the next time you're at the dr office. I just got them from my friend 'cause she worked for a dr.

I took a class from Sharon Craig, ions ago and she did something similar. She had us glue the pattern with I think rubber cement to the x-ray material or templeate plastic then glue fine sandpaper on. So it was template plastic/x-ray material---pattern pieces---fine sandpaper. Then you cut them out with an exacto knife and ruler. I still have these templates.

I bought some cutting mats at Walmart--3 to a package and they cut real easy for templates. Some of those difficult shapes that you can't cut for plex glass. The were real inexpensive.
