Just want you all to know that after 8 hours, I finally mastered the" 10 minute block". LOL.
I want to thank all who helped with their suggestions.
Now I can make this EASY BLOCK, hopefully in 10 minutes.

I'm making one to take to the beach and each block of fabric is different (beach related) and most are directional. I have had a problem getting them right - going in the direction I want. Have increased my stitch length to do a test - (knew I would be ripping out seams) then go back and seam again. Would be much easier if you do not use fabric that you want to go a certain direction.

I wonder if there are printed directions for this block anywhere? I hear everybody talking about them & would love to try it but I do better with print directions rather than video.

I haven't made this quilt yet, but plan on doing it before the end of the year - there are just so many and so little time ... lol

Last night I was leafing through Georgia Bonesteel's Easy Does It Quilts" (Oxmoor House, 1996) looking for ideas, and there on pages 119-121 were very, very clear, well-diagrammed instructions for what she calls a "Bow Tie Doll Quilt", made with three-dimensional 'bowtie' blocks: none other than "10-minute blocks". She doesn't claim it as an original block, she just applies it to a doll quilt.

Like dimensional wild geese blocks, dimensional pinwheels, yo-yos and prairie points, just to name a few, this lovely and versatile block most likely goes back a long, long way in quilting history!

TeresaS, it is incredibly easy, especially if you have a stock of pre-cut squares. The clearest directions I have seen are in Georgia Bonesteel's "easy does it quilts" (see post above). I made 42 blocks last week in just a few hours - the longest part was playing with my squares to decide on colour combinations!

I've made several, and once you get the hang of it, 10 minute blocks go fast. But, there is a learning curve involved. So glad you have it figured out. I've made many of the backs of my quilts with this pattern and like to see the different fabrics come together.
