I love this product for embroidery only. I think it would be TOO stiff for regular piecing.

I use this all the time and buy the gallon refills.

It looks interesting. Heading over to Amazon to order some.

I use it for applique. It is really nice and STIFF when I need it to be and when I need just a little flex, I just don't use as much. It is also wonderful for using the Scan n Cut. I also used it to shape fabric for Christmas figures. Unlike the fabric stiffener that was permanent, I can wash it out if I choose.

I also use with embroidery or on the background for applique. There is also another product I've used to stiffen fabric for applique and that is Palmer/Pletsch Perfect Sew which is a wash-away fabric stabilizer. I used that too. I bought it in a large bottle some years ago for $27.99--it is a refill bottle. It is made in Australia. Bought it at a Viking dealer. I put it in a spray bottle.

I would say it's closer to glue than it is to starch. It makes things VERY stiff! I left it in my project, but the overspray washed off of things and out of my test scraps just fine.
I used it to make fabric roses. If I got my fingers damp, I could reshape the petals and it'd dry stiff again. Neat stuff! I just got a Scan N Cut and I have heard it works great for cutting fabric with it, but haven't tried it for that purpose yet. |
