Testing for fiber content

I usually do a burn test on fabrics that i have acquired that are " unlabeled."

I did not do that with this piece and put a hot, dry iron down on it in the middle of the piece. That did not work out well.

Lessons relearned:

Check for fiber content - do not assume
A certain setting on one iron may be a different temperature than the "same" setting on another iron
It seems that a fabric will tolerate a higher temperature if moisture is present than not. Pay attention to the water level in a steam iron if using steam so thAt it does not go dry.

i don't even know what fabric I'm wearing now. different Countries give new names to fabric contents. confusing as all get out!

Its totally confusing. I checked fiber content on a pair of pants I recently bought. I'm still not sure what they are made of. :D
