Any 6-pointed star pattern should work with a hexagon appliqued on top. Just thinking outside the box.

Dawn Stapinski Quilt Designer of Morning Meadows Designs, the Barn Star. It is a true Texas star, not a lone star. 5 pointed with shading. I'm trying to figure out if you can buy the design or if you have to take her class. Check it out and see what you think.
