Anybody using it? I just made a cupcake pincushion and made the "icing" using TM. I did it twice as the first one I used a craft batt underneath to give it a trapunto look, but it was too heavy for the small cupcake top. So I did another without the batt and it came out really cute. I still have to stuff it.
Just wondering if anyone else has done anything with it. It's so much fun to see what the fabric will look like after it is steamed. |
How about posting some pictures. I have never seen the TM, but would love to see what you are using it for. I never know where my next inspiration is going to come from.

Yes!!! Pictures Please!!! :D :D :D
|
I don't know what it is...could you post a pic or explain? Obviously I'm not using it
|
I've seen it... I'm pretty sure I bought some of it... I haven't used it. I think I was going to attempt and Art Quilt when I purchased it, but don't have any idea how to get started. I think I remember the sales lady saying that if you want it really crinkley, then you don't want to leave it in water very long... maybe 1/2 what the instructions said.
Would love to see pics of what you create. |
I'm with SandPat - I don't know what it is. Please explain and pics if you can. Tx.

It is a new product put out by Superior Threads. The link above has a video you can watch to see how it works. It's pretty awesome stuff. |
I saw this the week of Nov 1st on Martha Pullens PBS show. They used it to get texture on Dupione (sp) Silk. it created a really cool puffy texture. Of course they don't tell you the name of the product during the segment, so I had no idea what it was.
It would be really cool in a quilt. |
Thanks for the link.

what does it cost?
|
Thanks for the link...thats cool stuff, I'll try it sometime!
Patrice...at the bottom of the page on the link, it says $11.99..plus shipping I would assume. |
The stuff is so much fun.....I watched the video which helped a lot. I will post a picture as soon as I get it stuffed.....Hope to do that today... :-)

RACHEL.......DO NOT PUT IN WATER!!!!! After it is attached, by sewing, to your fabric, you hold a steam iron OVER it.....not touching.....and it shrinks and creates the puckers........NO WATER involved........Be sure to watch the video provided below or go to www.superiorthreads.com

I've been checking out the texture magic videos. Wouldn't it make a great snowman?!?!?

I bought some Incredible Shrinking Thread at Paducah a couple years ago. It wasn't selling, in a box at the back of the booth. The vendor worker wasn't sure what could be done with it, only that it shrunk when heated. She sold them to me cheap. I put them away not knowing exactly what to do with it. Then Texture Magic came out. Same thing! I can stitch close together on any fabric and have the textured look. If you can find the thread it might be less expensive then the Texture Magic.

I happened upon the Texture Magic recently. It looks like fun. I asked the Viking people at Joann's if they had heard about it. They did not, but said that some years ago there was thread that basically had the same effect. There seems to be such a limited usage of Texture Magic.
What do you think? Barbara |
no i have not but i saw a pattern in a magazine that i bought yesterday and i think i am going to try it after i finish the quilt i am working on right now :-)
