I recently posted a photograph of a couple of cushions made with Thai Silk, many of you commented how difficult silk is to work with as it "frays". A tip I have just come across is to iron on a "light" stabilizer BEFORE you cut the silk.

There is a lady in the UK who sells kits to make wall hangings cushions etc in silk (please note her silk is "Dupont" which is stiffer like the fabric used in bridal and bridesmaids dresses easier to work with than pure silk) her website is thesilkroute.co.uk, give it a look ladies.

That's what I do too. Even for the Dupione silk.

I made a Bow Tie quilt using silk neck ties and I used a fusible on the back. 215 different silk neck ties. It turned our very pretty, but not practical for kitties.
