Is anyone doing the Thangles Buck a Block 7 through their LQS?

I decided that I would do this one this year. I've started a BOM a few years ago (STILL working on it) but I think this one I will be able to keep up with. Plus I'm going to give it to my DH as a gift when it gets finished.

I have the first block now. I'm going to start it either tonight or tomorrow. I'm not sure about the instructions. They look sparse.

I've never worked with Thangles before...

I wish... none of my local LQS are participating

I've never heard of this .... so, please do tell, what the "Buck a Block" concept is? Thanks!

It is a block of the month program where you sign up and each month you get the material to make a block. In this case we get two strips of fabric and you make 2 blocks. So for May (when it began) I paid $10 and I received a package of 2 inch Thangles and two strips of fabric. Next month, I go into the store and pick up my next package for $1. At the end of 12 months we will have 24 blocks.

Now the kicker is this is just the center block so you can either stop at your 24 blocks or you can purchase the additional fabric to set the blocks and sashing to make a twin size quilt. I'm not sure if they give any discount on the fabric needed to complete the quilt.

It seems like a fun way to get a quilt done and try something new. They have 2 colorways - a red and a floral. I chose the red because it is for my mister but the floral would be wonderful because each month the florals will be different. If I didn't have so much on my plate now I would have done the floral one too!

My LQS is offering it in two colorways -- I chose the lime/navy option. Each month your strips will actually make 2 blocks. It does seem a bit plain month-to-month, but it will come to life once you get them all done and have your finishing kit. The border fabric really makes this one.

I'm starting it also, so I hope that it's easy.
The quilt shop that is offering it, is not local to me so I went on an adventure and found the store.
It's Chester County Quilting, what a great store, can't wait to go back and spend more time there.
It started in January, so I was able to pick up all 5 months at one time.
They made the blocks bigger 12", so you get 2 blocks a month for $4.
It seems like a great deal you can't beat the price.
I'm new to quilting and trying many different things, so Thangles is on the list of things to do.
