Just came back home after visiting with my mom.

She sent me home with 3 totes full of fabric. She is cleaning out her sewing room - says she doesn't want to sew any more.

I felt kinda bad for taking it...and tried to encourage her to sew more, but she said she's lost interest. She use to sew and do lots of craft shows, but those aren't much of a hit around here anymore.

And she knows that I make charity quilts, so she said she felt good about giving it to me. I guess it's a good "hand-me-down" of sorts.

So I'll definitely be busy sorting thru the new stash to see what I can use.

Very nice! She probably is happy to see it used. :)

It went to a good cause. I am sorry she is not sewing anymore--she could help with the charity quilts. I am happy she did not just dump the fabric some place and it came to you.

I know you will put it to good use! Just think how many people you will help with it.

As a mother, there is no greater pleasure than giving to a son or daughter. I love to give my kids things.

My mom did that a couple years ago. Brought home what was left of her fabric and threads.

I got my Mom's several months ago - then talked her into sewing chair covers - she may want it back now! Have fun and enjoy!

Nice gift. She knows it will be used.

It's a cleansing process, and she knows it went to the best possible place. A lady at church went through a spell last fall. Her friends were dying off (3 in one month!) and she was feeling her mortality, so started cleaning out her house and asked my help. I got a couple of totes of usables. The rest was leftover laces and such from making bridal gowns, maids dresses, costumes, etc. that she donated to different places.

She got over it, and now we spend a couple evenings a month rebuilding her stash :) She's much more intentional in her purchases now, but she's having fun, and I love watching her have fun.

I think my mom is thinking about her age and all that too.

When we had to go thru my grandma's sewing room, it was so overwhelming, and I think she doesn't want to leave that much for someone to have to deal with.

My daughter is next in line to go over there. My mom called her after I left, to let her know that she needs to come over and take a few totes of it also.

My daughter and I are the only ones left in the family that does any quilting/sewing....so I'll have to see what she decides to do next.

Hopefully she keeps some for herself so she can continue to sew a little.
