Hi ole bat, you know what, I have a husband(married 7 years soon) that never had a quilt just for him, so I made a king size quilt just for him, It is not perfect BUT he takes a nap under it every day because I made it for him, It is very special to him so buck up lady , it is beautiful and cuddley, that is all that is important ,besides you made it especialy for an ocassion, relax, enjoy the moment , Life is too short to sweat the small stuff,

it is not the quilt, but the photo...try using a different ISO and a portrait setting...force it to flash if you have to...either way, the quilt is GREAT!

You are so right, and that was part of my frustration. I couldn't get a fill flash that wouldn't cause wash-out. The photos are more for my log than anything, I don't usually post. Most of my pieces are make, hang, shoot, file photo, ship quilt. Not, submit for publication. However, the photos always look like whatever I made. The pictures don't lie.

When I shoot in the sun at that location, the light is usually harsh, so we waited for softer lighting, which we were beginning to loose as we played with settings. Perhaps I'll try a "magazine" shot when I finish the matching tote, perhaps a different camera. It was just a little heart wrenching that my pictures didn't look like the quilt I made.

All of these warm, wonderful comments have proven that the quilt is fine. Many comments have even brought tears to my eyes. It's just a slap in the face that as a former photojournalist (pre-digital), I can't make a quick shot count. My new quest - a good quality photograph of this quilt, for my own satisfaction.

yeah.....see I knew you knew it was not the quilt! the lighting just sort of washed it out...but it is a stunning quilt made with love, so that makes it beautiful on its own merit!
