I am just celebrating my second year with my Bernina Q24 and I’ve never had an issue with the backing being too short because I have OCD...however, there’s always a first time for everything. Thankfully, I found the perfect video to get me through my predicament. https://quiltedjoy.com/2014/05/backi...m-machine.html

I've ended up with not enough backing a few times now, and with the LA, it's really not hard to add a bit more. I float my tops so flipping them out of the way causes no problems.

One time I wasn't paying that much attention and almost started quilting into the leader.

So glad you found a video that will help you out. It is kinda frustrating when your backing is not long enough. Good luck from now on and please share a picture of your finished quilt

Did that once with a quilt my 4-Hers had tied. Had to take out all the ties and redo it. I felt bad for them since it wasted their afternoon at the fair (part of our club exhibit) and it had been done by the boys. On the other had they had a great time chatting and testing their limits. Made for some great pictures!

That is brilliant and I am glad you found a solution!

I am so glad you were able to figure things out. I have come close on my mid arm a few times It is so frustrating.

yikes...stitching into your leader could be troublesome. I hope not to run into this problem again.

I've had to use that method once too--while it was a life saver method it was also a large king size and I'd rather not do it again!

Great video, sure wished I had seen that back when I made that exact mistake. At least now I know what to do next time. Thanks.
