Is there block with the word sister in its name?

Have decided to make a wall hanging for my sister for her birthday later this year and was wondering if anyone knew of a block with sister in its name. I am going to make it 4 blocks, one being a friendship star, and one called Crazy Mary ( her name is Mary). Am hoping to find a sister block and not sure about the last one. Maybe 2 sister block if I can find one. Thanks for any help you might offer.

I'm not so familiar with the names of blocks but I heard of a block called "Seven Sisters", and my EQ7 shows me a block named "Sister's Choice"!!! And this block looks very nice to me!!!

Check out Eleanor Burns patterns. I don't remember the name, but one of her programs I remember a mention of a block with 'sister' in the name.

Ellen Burns has a "4 Sister's Quilt" but I don't recall if the individual blocks have that name. I'd check out a quilt block library, or even the Quilter's Cache to see if I could find one. I suppose you could also just Google: "Sister's Quilt block", or something like that. If all sources run dry, why not make your own quilt block and name it whatever you want! Just a thought. Or you could combine elements of two or more blocks and then re-name it for your sister.

Bonnie has a Sister's Choice pattern in her free patterns section on http://www.quiltville.blogspot.ca

There's also one called Sister Mary's Star which sounds perfect for your project.

Sister's Choice can look very different depending on your fabric choices and placement.

Jinny Beyer has 'Twin Sister' block-- block # 20 that can be done in 3 sizes. Block is the same from Eleanor Burns in Quilts Through the Season, video also on her site:

Great ideas. My brother only refers to me as Sis . So this would open the field even more.
Would she know the name of the block or will you tell her?

The quilt name is TWIN SISTERS on page 102 in EB book "Quilts thru the Seasons". The show about this pattern was recently shown again on my local PBS station. It is a sort of a pinwheel made from strips. You are able to make twin blocks (positive and negative reversed) from the strip.

Thanks everyone. I think theses two will work out great. I do plan to tell her about the blocks, I think ( hope) it will make it more special. Her favorite color is purple so that is the color it will be. Thanks again.

This is a beautiful example of fabric placement. I can hardly believe they are both the same block. Thanks for taking the time to make these examples and show us. Jeanne

In looking at examples of this block I found a version using only 2 colors, and I liked it. So that is how I did my test block .
