Whats the difference between the 10 minute block and the bow tie block?

not sure

The construction is different. There are triangles in the bow tie and the 10 minute is done with squares and just three seams.

I have done the 10 min. block using 2 different fabrics. The way it is laid out and sewn up is different. Very alike.

A lady in my quilt group showed this block a couple of years ago and called it a 3D bow tie I made a baby quilt with 6 1/2" blocks in this quilt but the 10 minute block is bigger and you can turn the edges of the center square in for a completly different block and it is bigger so goes a lot faster thus the 10 minute block! I love it but it still takes me 20 minutes!! :)

3D needs binding in this pic

I also read that you can make the central square bigger if you want, for a different look

It looks like you can use the 10 minute block technique to make a bow-tie block, if you want.

you can, you just have put the colors in the right places when setting the squares.
