I have left my iron on also and it scared me when I realized I did not have sense enough to remember to turn it off. I put a light on my cutting table and plugged both the light and the iron in an electrical strip. I know if that light is on, so is the iron. I have had no issues since I started doing this.

Came home from work yesterday and I heard a ticking sound. Followed the sound and found I had left my iron on from the morning! Fortunately, I had left it standing up on my granite kitchen counter instead of on the board. I NEED to get an iron that has an auto shutt off!

I agree, with kids and animals running around the house it takes only seconds for an unattended iron to get knocked over. The auto shutoff might be a pain but it has several homes and lives from fires I'm sure

I found a cheap Sunbeam at Walmart that turns off after 45 minutes. It cost under $25 and has never seen water (I use a spray bottle when necessary). Love the thing.

I am so sick & tired of jumping up every few minutes to iron 'something' before my iron cuts off. 45 minutes before it turns off would be fantastic.

Thanks for posting!

I just think that you can do something 99 percent of the time, but it is only going to take one time to really make a mess of it. I hate safety belts in the car, but I always put mine on. It might save my life someday. Especially with all the crazies on the road these days.

My thinking as well.

Yes...things happen (or can happen) that we are totally unprepared for. Auto shut off is a valuable feature in my opinion.
