are there places
Are there places that sell grab bags of fabric? Sometimes I'd just like to be able to buy some random things but not for a huge amt of money. Like today, I'm making another wreath from fabric strips and something like that would be handy.

Quilt in a Day has them occasionally...

Looks like there are lots of them at etsy: http://www.etsy.com/search?includes%...related&page=1

Moda has something called a scrap bag. Each bag contains varying width of strips with most being from 2" to 4" in width. The strips vary in length but most of WOF. It's about 1/2 lb of fabric strips. The collections are color coordinated. I bought one at my LQS a couple of years ago but I haven't done anything with it. Actually, forgot about it! I better hunt that down and get something made with it!!

Here are some listed on Etsy. I buy frequently from sellers on Etsy and haven't had any issues. Use Paypal! http://www.etsy.com/search/supplies?...ax=0&ref=auto1 |
thanks for the ideas! Had no idea there would be so many places to look

I believe equilter.com sells scraps by the pound.
I have purchased a lot from eBay.........
Fabric.com usually has a by the pound bag available for around $20 (I think it works out to about $3/yd) and sometimes they have it on "sale"
I think Keepsake Quilting also has bags of scraps.
I love scrap bags - have gotten some of my best fabrics this way. They're great for strip quilts and for samples of fabric that I may buy more of in the future. I've purchased a scrap bag online from www.4my3boyz.com for $3.99 which was very nice, and I've also purchased one from www.mybluebamboo.com with which I wasn't so happy at all because the fabrics were nothing like what they sell as yardage (their yardage is beautiful). Sometimes local quilt shops will also sell scrap bags - there's one in my area that sells them for $4 and I usually buy four at a time.
Not a place to buy, but one of my guilds has a free table where people dump their scraps. It's a good place to pick up relatively small pieces of fabric to jazz up a scrap quilt.
Sometimes in the classified section/thrift shop of this board there are boxes of scraps for sale , more than reasonably priced. Consider putting your own ad in the "insearch of" section of this board , there are more than a few members that have lots of scraps and would consider selling them at a reasonable price.

My LQS has a scrap bin, that you get to pick out your own fabric/colors and 'stuff' it in a specific size bag for a few dollars.
I bought a scrap bag from mybluebamboo a short time ago and was very happy with it. I'm collecting fabrics for an appliqué quilt and need a large variety of colors, but don't need big pieces. The scrap bag fit the bill.

I bought scrap bags for crazy quilting from LQS. It contained so many fun fabrics from quilting cotton to crushed silk.
I love going through the small pieces at the thrift store!
I shop here all the time for quality quilting cotton grab bags by the pound. Very inexpensive.
some of the quilt shops will have small bags of scraps for sale

Save your pennies and fly out for Keepsake Quilting's tent sale next June. You can make your own scrap bag. They have oodles of boxes of odd sized cuts. Whatever you can put in a bag they give you is 6$!! I average about 86 cents a yard!!!

I have also bought Moda scrap bags at a LQS a couple years' ago, too. As with auntpiggylpn, I also forgot about it. Will have to look it up.

I have sourced some great fabric on Ebay. I have even managed to find an Australian supplier of vintage scraps (love 'em).
