I think it looks great!
|
You're right ... ugly is in the eye of the beholder ... I think the quilt is great. I have family quilts made by my great grandmother, grandmother, and my mother-in-law. My great grandmother's quilts are absolute works of art. But my grandmother's and mother-in-law's quilts were obviously made from whatever fabric was available. My great grandmother had more resources available to her. My grandmother and mother-in-law made quilts to keep their families warm in cold weather. To me they are all BEAUTIFUL.

Turn it 90º to the right so the fish are swimming in a more normal direction and see what you think. I'd change the outer border to a color that is included within the center - probably one of the colors within the golden koi since that would blend best with the creamy background. But it's not ugly at all.
|
I don/t see anything ugly about it.
|
Not at all ugly! If you must change something, I would change the outer border to a batik or marble (like the purple) that compliments the koi. More of the same purple would be fine if you have any. Fabulous quilting in the neutral areas will make this stunning.

It's only problem is there's nothing in those large triangular areas. You need a little embroidery, applique or quilting there so they wouldn't be so barren.

Where is the picture of the ugly quilt? It surely can't be this beautiful koi quilt. I really like it.

This is a very nice looking quilt. Keep going and quilt it and I think you may surprise yourself (smile). Thank you for sharing.
