Is there something comparable to Ricky Tims' Stable Stuff® Poly?
I have fallen in love with this stuff for paper piecing and applique, but I will go broke soon! Is there a cheaper alternative? I love the idea that it feels soft like fabric, but is sturdy enough to hold up while using it..and especially that I can run it through the printer...then it just washes away. Other wash away that I've used is very flimsy, and I find that anything on a bias will stretch with others I've tried..suggestions welcome!

I use Stable Stuff for most all my paper piecing now from the first time I tried it, it's great. but it doesn't wash away.
....If you wet or wash your finished project, Stable Stuff® Poly becomes a fine, soft layer of unnoticeable polyester fibers inside your project. I've tried to find it in bulk from a warehouse but haven't had any luck so far. Next time I'm in Paducah for the quilt show I'm taking a piece to compare at the stabilizer booth. Every type you can imagine is there but labeled what it's made from not the brand name. It's not too bad a price though 50 pre cut sheets for $10. |
I've not used Ricky's product, so I don't know how it compares. But C&T Pub has printable, wash-away applique sheets. 25 sheets for $16, maybe it goes on sale every now and then.

Bella...wholesale would be great! If you do find something at Paducah, please let me know!
Peckish...so I guess 50 sheets of the Stable Stuff is a bargain! I know some of the other brands are almost a dollar a sheet..yikes! |
I found stable stuff sheets at a sale online about 6 months ago. The site was http://softexpressions.com/. I don't think it's on sale now and I'm kicking myself for only buying 1 pack. It was about $1.50 off I think.
