Is there a website....

...that tells you how many of any cut you need to complete a certain size of quilt?

As an example...How many fat quarters does it take to make a queen sized quilt?
How many charm packs?

I've often admired pre-packaged cuts but never really knew how much was in each package and how many packages I'd need to complete a project.

Thanks, Watson

Try Missouri Star Quilt Co. website. Jenny Doan has that information in the back of the Block magazines, guessing it is on her website, too.

Thanks for asking that question. I have often wondered about that. Thanks also for the link. Got to keep that handy.

It entirely depends on your pattern. How much waste there is in cutting. How many pieces (more seams = more fabric needed) in a block.

I always thought it depended upon the pattern and how the precuts are used (if subcut or used whole). Some use sashing, others not, some have borders and others not.

think you can't really nail down exact measurements without knowing the pattern---but I sure love your horse!

I agree with Jeanne. It will give you an approximation but nothing firm like a pattern would tell you.

Additionally, fat quarter packs vary by fabric line. Some may have six, some 30 or more.

Thanks for all the information. It gives me a place to start.

quiltingshorttimer, I sure love my horse too. He's the "real" Watson.

great post... I have saved the precut standardization to my favorites. I don't do a whole lot with precuts but once in a while I find a collection I can't resist. Most of the patterns I have purchased break the yardage and precuts down in the directions but the link might be helpful if you want to do a scrappy or one of your own creations.

I have seen a list on Pinterest that breaks down the cuts.

Missori Star Quilt Company is a very good website that will answer your questions. There's even a phone number you can call to talk to someone. www.missouriquiltco.com I hope this helps you Watson. Skypony. PS. I love horses too.
