I bought a new ruler, used it once and it disappeared. My sewing room is not that messy nor that large so it must have gone to Never-Never Land.

I saw a spoof commercial on TV with a guy wearing a neck basket to hold stuff. I am seriously thinking about something like that for all the stuff I have to move from place to place, like the cell phone, house phone, remote, scissors, ripper, pins, soft drink, etc. I find that stuff is always where I am NOT

I took my sewing machine on 2 week long trips this summer but despite turning the sewing room upside down several times I could not find my seam ripper. I had resigned myself to buying a new one a couple weks ago when I happened to look at the ironing board. There was the seam ripper sitting in plain sight. How I missed seeing it I will never know.

I feel your pain! I have a shelving unit next to my cutting table. The bottom two shelves have boxes of "craft stuff"....things other than quilting supplies. One day I was using my seam ripper as a page holder (I know - dumb huh)....and forgot it was there, picked up the book and the ripper flipped SOMEWHERE!!!!!!! I looked, I cleaned, I crawled -- I couldn't find that seam ripper to save my life!!! Finally bought a new one. Two days later I was actually trying to catch a chipmunk the cats thought I wanted in my sewing room (another story) and happened to look down into one of those boxes of "other" stuff. Yip - there it was!!! I think the gnomes moved it so I could find it....the gnomes are good for hiding things in this house.

I think it is related to the missing sock fairy

Once you break down and buy a replacement, you are SURE to find them! :)

I have a pencil caddy that has one hole for each object. My stuffing stick, my marking pencil, my marking pencil refill leads, regular pen, regular pencil, lip balm, and my seam ripper. Woe to me if I don't return any of them to their "home base". I have the seam ripper that came with my old machine in my little tin "travel box" and the one that came with my current machine stays in the machine gizmo bag. OCD? ...nah.

I know there's a thief in my sewing room! Saturday, I removed the hook cover plate (bobbin cover plate) to insert a new bobbin. When I went to put the cover back on, IT WAS GONE!! After crawling on my hands and knees searching every inch of the room, I came to the conclusion that my dog had stolen it. I search the entire house and even the yard - no such luck.

Today I had to drive 60 miles (round trip) to purchase a new cover. I called the dealer and he has several so I plan to buy a couple. I've had the Janome 6500 for 8 years and this has never happened!!

You can never have too many seam rippers and you will find the other one when you least expect to. But go through your trash can before you empty it, just to be sure...........
