Thanks for the great ideas on how to deal with wide fabric. My last attempt at ironing almost had me in tears.

Oh and have a couple chairs handy to catch the part you've irorned and accordian or roll the part you've done as you scoot it onto the chairs.

If you don't prewash, you won't have to worry about ironing! But there is a product that works (I can swear to it). It's called "Mary Ellen's I hate ironing!" You spray it on and smooth the fabric with your hands and the wrinkles disappear. For this wide fabric, you could hang it over the shower rod and spray and smooth. Voila!

Ducky didn't believe it would work, so when she was visiting here, she took a badly wrinkled shirt out of her suitcase and in about 30 seconds had a wrinkle-free shirt to put on.

The other thing you can do is make a big board ironing board. I posted one on kwhite's pda that I made. It was easy peasy and cost about $16.00 to make.

I agree with what Mom-6 said. I have one of the JoAnn-style craft tables and only use this for all of my quilting ironing and I do some massive pieces. I use folded or multiple towels as an ironing surface. Don't have room for the chairs to help with overflow but that would be a great addition. I iron one side/edge from end to end then flip around and do the other. Then fold in half and do it again. Yes, a long tedious process but it does get the job done. With starch.
