When I first discovered this forum I couldn't imagine what all the fuss was about the featherweight. Well, last November I decided I had to have one for myself. She's a cutie and I enjoy sewing with her whenever I can. But I figured that was it for me. I may also end up with my Mom's 301 so why in the world would I ever need or want any other vintage machines? Guess what? I'm now looking at 15-91 and 201 machines. And I have no idea where I'd even keep one. I swear, it's like some kind of drug. One hit and you're addicted.

I agree! After reading about these vintage machines I started looking at thrift shops and found my first 15-91 (didn't know that until I got home and looked it up). Had it on the entry table and a friend comes over and said he had a small machine in a box that I could have. It was a 221. Then last weekend came across a 66 red eye for $70.00, and a kenmore (beautiful blue) 1950, for $20 in a cabinet. Four machines in two weeks and still want more. Don't know where I would put them but sure am enjoying them.

I've explained to William that if we get rid of the recliners and entertainment center, I could fit in at least 4 or 5 more machines!! He's not real hot on the idea tho...can't figure out why!!

Soon you own 15 machines and your DH is running out to buy and fix them because he has been bitten by the bug too. They are fun and addicting. Enjoy!

Join the club. I love vintage machines and only have 2 but am always on the lookout for more if it is a good deal. Looking for a 301 or 401 for my mom, I got her hooked. I now do all my piecing on the vintage, almost never turn on my new machines, even sent one of the new ones to my sister when hers died. The only new machine I use now is my Viking Mega Quilter to do FMQ.

Yeah, sometimes I feel a little guilty about not using my expensive computerized machine. The newer machine has all kinds of bells and whistles but there are times when I just want my life to be simple. With the FW I sit down, I sew, I don't have problems.
