I have see many quilt patterns that I just love to make and they are always made with a directional design and they don't fit a wide bed.
They are long from top to bottom and may fit on a single bed and look fine. I can make it and fit it on the queen size bed, but it has to go sideways. Now the pattern in going across the bed. I made both of these quilts, saying they were for a queen size bed and they fit, but sideways.... I will really have to think about this next time I see a pattern I love. I will have to re-design it to fit my bed.... They are not just to ang on a wall... Donna |
I always have to adjust a quilt to fit the bed it is for. Not all beds are the same size for sure.

many times patterns are designed to (fit the blocks)
if you look through historical pictures a quilt fit the top of a bed---they did not include over hang--- (we) have decided we want the overhang on our quilts and have to adjust our patterns to make that work- either by making more blocks-expanding the design- or add borders- back in the day- a quilt with an overhang was not a quilt- it was a bedspread |
