Nice to hear from someone in the Gaylord area. I spent some years in Grayling when my parents owned a motel. Just loved canoeing the AuSable River. Beautiful area!
Oh what memories you brought me. I canoed the AuSable when I was pregnant with my daughter (she turned 53 last November). My Dad and I made the trip in the middle of October and as we were getting out of the canoe, he tipped me into the icy water. I was freezing by the time we got back to my Grandmother's house so she dosed me with with Schnapps(?). Today, a doctor would have a fit over the canoeing on icy water and drinking Schnapps.
