thimberry fabrics

I'm finally going to join a quilt guild yaaaaaaa! I found one with google search close to me and I went to the meeting Tuesday night and they told me to stay as a guess, and pay membership next month when the yearly membership are due everybody was so nice and welcome me.I am so happy I found them close to me as the other guilds I found were 1hr drive, now I have a question I was given a pp template square in a square to do and hand in next month but using thimbleberry type fabrics 4 colors the center being beige, are the thimbleberry civil war type colors? I have no clue I did a google and found thimbleberry fabrics but kinda didn't help me much I'm thinking of using 4 fabrics from my stash but don't kno exactly what colors to pick thimberry type colors thanks.

Many of the Thimbleberry line were dusky, small-print, "country" looking designs like many of the Civil War reproduction prints. Compare the prints in these TWO different web sites, one with CW prints, one with TB prints for ideas to use.

I am glad you found a guild near you. It was nice they included you in their projects on your first meeting. Sounds like you have already been included as one of the group.

Enjoy yourself.

I really like the Thimbleberry fabrics. I just bought 20 fat quarters of them to use in a Buggy Barn class I am taking in a couple weeks-using the pattern that is called "Folk Art Flowers". It is in the book "Perrennial Crazy". I saw the quilt made with Thimbleberry fabrics adn it looks awesome. I'm glad you found a group you are comfortable with. I was in a Quit Guild that I was not comfortable in and then joined a different one and love it.

The Thimbleberries fabrics are not reproductions. They do have a lot of browns in them, though. If you google Thimbleberries, you should find plenty of the fabrics to see. If you have a quilt shop near you, they probably carry Thimbleberries fabrics. Ours even has a Thimbleberries "club".

I agree that Thimbleberries are not designed to be sold as reproduction, but some of them are so very like the antique mill cards that you know that some are so close they really are, or could be.

In my opinion the charm pack you posted, MandyRose could be used for this project if you are looking for a small less expensive way to purchase for it. I just saw many prints on Whittles.com that would be great for it, too. Their shipping is $5 and you could pick and choose from their stock.

I love thimbleberry fabrics, have used them for years and have alot in my stash. Very good quality fabric, comes out of the dryer looking beautiful. So happy you found a friendly guild.

The Thimbleberries line is designed by Lynette Jensen for RJR fabrics. Here is the RJR site which will give you an idea of what the line looks like. Click on the various collections to see everything.

In more recent years, Thimbleberries have 'lightened up' quite a bit; used to be pretty dark. There is a following for this line of fabrics but I find that it tends to be regional.

Glad to hear you found a guild you enjoy. Good for you!

I agree Jan. I have used Thimbleberries and Williamsburg fabrics to blend with my CW reproduction fabrics/patterns and it has worked very nicely.
