How do I solve this problem? Apparently I have thin fingers, especially fingertips.

My problem is I can't find a thimble that will stay on my finger. Nails are clipped, so that's not the problem. Have tried inserts, but they get gummy. Yuck!

I've bought several "small" thimbles, but still too big. What do you all do who have thin fingers?

Does anyone have a source for finding thinner thimbles? I'm singing the blues because my finger is sore and blue.

I don't really have an answer because I have the exact opposite of yours--fat fingers! Maybe a bandaid under the thimble would work?

Thimble Lady makes them to fit your finger. At least she used to. I had to send mine back once to be redone, but they fit perfect now.

My LQS has those "colored soft plastic thimbles fro about a dollar or so each and some of those are so thin they won't fit my pinkie. Each color is a different size. Hope you can look around and find them or someone can tell you where to get them,.

I use a leather thimble that has elastic on the top and the leather on the bottom. This holds in position quite well for me. There are other leather ones out there, too, that might work for you. Joann's has them, as do other places.

I have the same problem. I use a Thimble Ring. It looks like a really small spoon and the band is adjustable. They come in the standard S-M-L. I got it probably five years ago at a Quilt Show, and I believe Checkers sells them.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I'll certainly research them. I've tried the vinyl thimble, but not the leather one. The thimble ring fits but the needle slips. (Don't you just hate a cry-baby!) However, San Diego has a quilt show next week. I should go and look for one there. But I still will look into your suggestions. Thanks again. San Diego here I come!

I have a thimble I am not using it is adjustable so it can be made smaller or larger depending on your finger. it is open on the back with just a couple of strips of metal bands to adjust it
if you pm me with your address I will send it to you.
I have a leather one which is ideal for me as it fits over my swollen knuckles
ooppss just read another post and it is the one like a spoon.

Sew Krazy Girl, you should go to Cozy Quilts in El Cajon! She had some of the smaller plastic thimbles when I was back home a few months ago. Maybe the smallest one will fit your fingers. I can't use thimbles so I use the gloves with the soft little dots under the hands from Fons & Porter. They work perfect for me when I am using needle and thread.

By the way, I'm actually from La Jolla, CA - - just in Kansas for a job assignment. Small world, huh??
:) :)

Maybe a finger pick (like the ones to play an autoharp) would work bend to fit your finger and the pick end could be bent over to the top of your finger.
