I LOVE my ThimbleLady thimble..I've used 2-3 plastic thimbles and just love the method. I took a class at a LQS in OKC many years ago...but she posts a YouTube video I think...or someone did. The method works for me... I've built up a little callous but I also use "Thimble-it" little pads on my under finger. Check out the YouTube videos....hopefully they'll help! Good luck!

NJ Quilter...thanks for the stainless steel info...I'll try one, too!!

Well, dear friends...I just looked up a couple of YouTube videos on this...one is about 30 seconds, but the second is a show the "Thimblelady" did with Alex Anderson... not sure when it originally aired. So...It turns out I'm not really using her technique!! I'm using a modified Thimblelady/rocking motion technique... who knew?? hahaha!!

Well, anyway...there is a youTube video out there... have fun!!!

I used the little stick on pads and you can reuse for a few times too. Also used the back side of a small spoon successfully.

I purchased a thimble from Thimblelady two weeks ago and now her site is suspended. I think I got a size too large, but there is no answer to my emails. Can I use plumber's tape to make the thimble fit without ruining the metal?

I cannot use any kind of thimble when hand quilting. I have good callouses on both hand. I frequently try new techniques but since I am left handed they rarely work and I can't seem to rethink for the left hand. I do a good deal of hand quilting and find it relaxing. Hand quilting for many years not I rarely poke my hand from the underside of the quilt any more. It takes practice and patience but you will get the hang of it.
