Rule number whatever....Everything in quilting dulls after awhile. This applies to fabric, scissors, blades and especially the quilter's brain.

No's 1-3-4-8-10 &11 I have done all of them. No 1. Yes return the fabric if it continues to bleed. I had some red that ran so bad that I used a whole 44gallon drum of water trying to stop it. I ended taking it back--believe it or not it was an expensive fabric. Now I stick to the fabric brands I know and can trust--even if they do bleed it is only a little compared to that rotten fabric. And yes I have cut myself on the blades too, now I am extra careful of where I put it if accidentally left open--well out of my way!! Thank you for all the other hints too.

OMG, my daughters say the same thing and I also remember feeling that way about my own mother....it's so funny and humbling at the same time. Course there are a lot of traits I hope they never acquire and many that would them a world of good. LOL |
I've come to the conclusion that I will not convince the "do not need to prewash" folks that it is a good idea to prewash - and they will not convince me that "there is no need to prewash before cutting" We will just have to agree to disagree about this - and continue to do what we feel works for us. (Although I will admit to hoping that they get one stinker of a fabric that convinces them to change their minds  ) |
