I am beginning to use my mid-arm quilter, and really wanted to buy the expensive plugs that go on the pins to pin baste the quilt. Well, $ are tight, so we went to home depot and got DAP Caulk Backer Rod for around $4.00, and cut it into 1/2 " pieces. There is about 900 per pkg, and it works the same as those other things. Just thought you'd like to know.

Yesterday, I read on this site about using eraser pieces. This sounds much cheaper. I gotta try it.

My BIL's wife uses swimmer's ear plugs cut in half for her crochet & knitting projects. They are just pieces of some kind of foam like the DAP Caulk stuff pictured only they come in bright colors. The caulk stuff seems like it would be more economical, though. Another reason to allow myself to be dragged along to the hardware store--LOL!
