For those who embrodiery burp cloths, advice please
 

In between quilting, I have now started getting a bit more serious with my embroidery machine. I made some adorable burp cloths using Gerber prefolded diapers. Not happy with the quality of them, they pill and just feel thin after using them. Any advice on what to use for burp cloths? or what brand of diapers do you use? I think they make such great gifts if the quality was there. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I have made several burp cloths and use a nice thick flannel or chenille on the back.

They wash up nicely and provide "protection".

I've made many of these using 2 hand towels. I put a ribbon or piece of fabric on each of them toward the bottom, sandwiched them, turned them inside out, and topstitched. Quick, easy, and very usable.

I make them all the time. I buy a yard of fabric and cut it into 3. I round the edges, sandwich them together with batting in between, turn them right side out and quilt them and sew 1/4" around the edges. My daughter says they are the best thing. The ones you purchase in the stores are so thin they are barely worth buying. When going to a baby shower, asked by daughter once whether I should buy a gift or make burp cloths. She says definitely burp cloths.
