For those of you that use Facebook - have a question

I was wondering if any of you post pictures of your quilts on Facebook. I've had an account for 6 years and realized I've only every posted picture of a quilt once. I thought about joining a group on Facebook related to quilts and it said "If you don't have any postings related to quilting on your home page, you will not be able to join". That's when I realized my only quilt posting was 4 years ago - picture of my great niece sleeping on her quilt I made. She was two months old. Made me wonder if others posted pictures of their quilts on Facebook with any regularity.

I post a picture whenever I finish a quilt. I even created an album a while back, but only my FB friends can see it.

Jeanne S 07-16-2018 09:24 AM

I also usually post a picture when I finish a quilt, which is not very often these days!! :D

mandyrose 07-16-2018 10:05 AM

luvstoquilt301 07-16-2018 10:08 AM

I post lots of them there. I often have friends donate fabric for my charity quilts and they love seeing it used.

granky 07-16-2018 10:50 AM

I usually show a picture of the flimsy...because goodness knows when I'll get it quilted...but my friends don't seem to mind...if they do, they're too polite to say anything. Now if I ever get the stack of 'flimsies' quilted......

SewingSenior 07-16-2018 11:27 AM

I post most of my quilts on FB just so I can share with my cousins and such. I joined one quilting related group on FB and the notification postings overtook my time line to the point that I had to opt out.

Onebyone 07-16-2018 12:30 PM

Put a picture of a quilt as your avatar. That will satisfy the quilt pic needed. Then you can change it back. I know the group and that's what I did to join. I seldom post pics of my quilts. You can choose if you want notifications, if you want to visit the page to read posts or have them sent to your page. Most get confused about Facebook settings and get overwhelmed.

Irishrose2 07-16-2018 12:45 PM

I post pictures on several quilt sites on FB. There was no requirement of having posted a quilting picture.

pchp 07-16-2018 01:24 PM

I have posted photos of quilts on FB to show more friends and family members. My profile picture is of a quilt I made.

meyert 07-16-2018 02:12 PM

I don't post very many quilts on Facebook - sometimes someone with thank me for a quilt with a picture and tag me. Not sure why.. I just don't.. I guess that is what this website is for ha ha ha

Stitchnripper 07-16-2018 02:28 PM

I put some quilt pictures on Facebook. I don't have a lot of Facebook Friends though and limit who can see my page to friends only. I realize this isn't foolproof but it is a start.

Jingle 07-16-2018 02:44 PM

I have a quilt in my avatar. Only one I have posted.

ckcowl 07-16-2018 04:17 PM

I post pictures of my quilts on fb when I finish a quilt unless it’s a surprise I don’t want to be seen, then I wait until it’s been gifted.

Anniedeb 07-16-2018 05:41 PM

I regularly post my finishes on my FB page. I have maybe 50 FB friends, and probably 15 are family members. My settings are such that only my friends can see them. I don't belong to any quilting FB groups, but occasionally look at them.

Teddybear Lady 07-16-2018 08:48 PM

I can post from my iPhone to Facebook. I haven't figured out how to resize my photos for this board. I'm a member of 3 quilting groups on Facebook. I love seeing what others have made. That's why I like this board so much.

Sandygirl 07-17-2018 03:26 AM

Get busy !

WMUTeach 07-17-2018 03:36 AM

I have choosen to not post much on facebook because of my professional life. I don't want lurkers or my students trying to see me outside of our academic world. I am a member of a closed Facebook group of quilters. We are all from the same guild and our group does require the approval of either of our guild leaders. WE have just a few who have been allowed to join that are not guild members but who are quilters. This site is primarily for communicating and posting of photos of our accomplishments or reminders to the whole group. For me that is good enough.

I joined another Facebook quilt group and because it was so large, my mailbox was always being filled up with messages about this and that that had nothing to do with quilting. Dropped out and don't miss the site at all.

If you don't want your photos out for the universe to see, then don't join this group. I understand that they want real quilters only but..... It is always your choice.

LGJARN52 07-17-2018 03:37 AM

I post pictures of my Project Linus quilts and table runners that I manage to finish to my personal page.

Kassaundra 07-17-2018 03:43 AM

I post pics of my quilts / quilting / blocks etc... to FB all the time. I am in several quilting groups (probably to many) anyway I know posting pics to FB puts them "out there for eternity" but don't figure anything about my quilts is top secret or anything.

Kris P 07-17-2018 03:47 AM

I don't post every quilt as I finish it, but I post a group of photos every4-6 months. I'm always surprised how many of my friends comment.

Taughtby Grandma 07-17-2018 04:55 AM

I usually post pictures after I finish a quilt or after the intended person gets it.

Jordan 07-17-2018 07:04 AM

If I could post a picture I would but I don't look at FB very often. I would love to post picture of my quilts on this board but I don't know how. I have to ask my 14 yo granddaughter to help me and I don't want to bore her too much. She is kind about it but I know she would love to be doing many other things. LOL

klswift 07-17-2018 08:18 AM

I would hesitate to join a group that worded their 'requirements' like that. I have several facebook accounts (i run an online business and belong to several non-profit groups) and I am a moderator on a couple online chats. We inform folks that only relevant posting will be allowed, no links and no 'non-stream' discussions. But, that is to keep the content relevant. Anyone can join and post as long as they follow the guidelines. But, to say you need to have your own postings on another site seems a bit odd. Using our guidelines, we have a lot of new folks posting their first creations and asking for help, tips and comments along with seeing some phenomenal works and getting inspired. This is how the craft grows! Your group seems to be a bit exclusive rather than inclusive. My advice is find another because there and hundreds!

Doggramma 07-17-2018 08:22 AM

I post a quilt picture once in a while. I have friends who post every single thing they make, but that's not my style.

It's a Quiltville Open Studio that requires it. Biggest quilt group on Facebook according to the likes.

sJens 07-17-2018 01:05 PM

Yes, I post pictures of my quilts and as far as I know the only ones that can see them are my friends.

wildyard 07-17-2018 04:52 PM

I post all my quilts on FB also. Never know when you might inspire a new quilter!

citruscountyquilter 07-18-2018 05:31 AM

I'm a member of several quilting sites yet don't post pictures on my site. I did have to answer some questions if I remember correctly. This is to filter out people who want to spam and lurk on sites. I'm also a member of a couple that relate to my sewing machines where I get a lot of useful information. Try joining and see what happens.

tuckyquilter 07-18-2018 07:24 PM

Yes, I do.
and have joined WAY to many quilting groups. But between sewing/quilting, watching quilting videos, chatting about them etc.. I keep my nose pretty clean.. Haven't been arrested all week for bad behavior.... LOL

1screech 07-19-2018 06:29 PM

I love posting my quilts on facebook. Post them because your friends will love seeing them.

hobbykat1955 07-20-2018 05:44 PM

Quilts are the only thing I post on FB

gramajo 07-23-2018 09:37 AM

My DD occasionally will post her quilts on FB. She has had a couple of requests to purchase them.

nena 07-23-2018 04:27 PM

People probably get tired of looking at mine, but Hey, its my facebook and if I can look at duck libs all day they can look at my quilts. lol

nena 07-23-2018 04:28 PM

Snooze2978 07-26-2018 06:11 AM

Since getting on Facebook more lately, I've started to add my finished quilts on some of the sites.
