Thoughts on Bernina 1530?
I have an opportunity to purchase a Bernina 1530 for $500. It comes with 10 feet, owners manual, cover, and extension table and has been serviced by a Bernina dealer. My adult daughter is just starting out with quilting and I am thinking about getting it for her. I don’t have any experience with the 1530. I did a Google search and it seems to be a good machine but can’t find any recent comments/reviews. What do you think?

When was it manufactured?

I googled it and the reviews seem positive.

That is a very good price, I would jump on it if it were me.

That's a good price.

I love my Bernina 1530. I think $500.00 is a good price for this machine especially if it comes with 10 presser feet. The presser feet can be a bit pricey for the old style Berninas. All in all the 1530 is a great workhorse machine, the body is metal and very sturdy.

I think you could get a better used Bernina for $500. The screen on these is hard to see, and the roller ball is cumbersome. A brand new Bernina 330 sells for $800, and it has lots of utility stitches and decorative stitches, including blanket-stitch for applique, an amazing buttonhole system and 1 alphabet font.
You could probably buy a used Bernina 125, 135 or 150 for less. |
