sandpat, I use MaxiLock serger thread and it works wonderfully!

Question: Is the serger thread polyester or cotton?? Does anyone use polyester or cotton wrapped polyester for piecing?? Just asking as I have been using just cotton and wondering what everyone else uses. :?: :?:

I also use grey or tan thread, No problems, I buy the big cones, they last forever.

Using a grey or taupe thread works very well. Also proper pressing while piecing helps keep your threads from showing. Press (not iron) along the seam first, then gently nudge the fabric over with the tip of the iron....no pulling or running the edge of the iron along the edge of the seam. It takes a bit more time but you don't end up with alligator teeth at the edge of the seams.

I have read posts on several forums that machine repairmen have said do not use Coats and Clark thread in the new machines because it will wear a groove in the tension disc. I have no idea why this thread will and other's won't. Anyone have an knowledge about this?

I don't know about grooves, but C&C thread is very linty and it gets everywhere. The only time I have issues with thread breaking is when I'm using C&C. I've stopped using it.
