Do you think that the thread color for quilting on a quilt would look better matching the colors in the quilt blocks or matching the raspberry/purple blocks?

The quilt is a brick pattern with Kona snow as the sashing, border, and half of the bricks; the bricks are shades of raspberry and purples, some batiks...

What color is the backing? I usually try to match the backing with a thread that looks nice on the front.

The backing is Kona snow (an off-white) with a strip of all of the bricks that are on the front...

You have so many wonderful colors going on there, it would be hard to pick just one. I would use clear or smoke monofilament that would not distract from the fabric design in the needle, and something what would match your backing color in the bobbin.

put several threads in a loopy fashion on top of the quilt and see what you like best. You also have to decide if you want the quilting to pop or blend. good luck

I agree. Monofilament has its place but I hate it on anything that will be touched. All those pokies (ends) will get you sometime.

I would make a sample of the fabrics sandwiched, and try out a few different colors. See if the thread pulls to the back. Since your backing is white the top thread may show slightly on the back, If it does I would either use monofilament or white.

I agree with this. Also, how good is the quilter? I wouldn't want to use a bright raspberry colored thread on the white background unless I was using my PC Quilter because I'm not good enough to do it free hand. If I was just going to meander or pantograph over the whole quilt--I would use a white to match the background so the piecing is what shows off--not the quilting.

A very pale varigated would be pretty too.
It would show on the back, but is more forgiving than some solids :D:D:D
