When sewing black and white fabric to colored fabric (red, lime green)which color thread do you recommend - white or colored?
|
I usually use a white, off white or beige for all my machine quilt sewing, except for my bindings then I use the matching color.
Use what you feel good about using. |
Probably variegated brights, but for sure something with lime green.
Oh, for piecing. Gray, off white or black. |
With darker colors I usually use gray.

I use gray almost all the time.

Use what you feel good about using. I typically use an off white or some shade of beige, and also some greys for most of my piecing. I have a several different beige threads I keep on hand and tend to use the most. Using the beige thread color for piecing is cheaper on the budget. It also depends on the project. The thread color for the binding should always match the binding fabric. There is a current trend to use variegated threads for the quilting, but this depends on the quilt top and back fabrics. A lot of quilters, including me, use neutrals and grays for most piecing. I stay away from white except when using pastels with white.

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. The colors gray, beige, tan etc are what I thought but just wanted to be sure.

Unless all the colors are dark, I tend to do an off-white or light grey for my sewing.
