Thread color
What color thread would you use to longarm a quilt that has a navy blue backing and the top is all different colored bricks with white squares in between? I don't want to use invisible thread.
Thanks for any ideas. |
I would probably try Invisafil white or Bottom Line silver. Both of these seems to blend with everything. The latest issue of Machine Quilting magazine shows a vintage quilt top in white/red/blue that was rescued and quilted with the Invisafil white; she said the thread worked really well on all the colors. The Bottom Line silver is recommended by Bob at Superior threads as a good blending thread.

If you want your quilting to show, how about a variegated thread with navy and some of the colors of the top? Superior Threads has the biggest selection that I've found.

Variegated with short color changes on the top and navy or black on the back.

A nice silver-grey will show on all of your colors.

even a soft green looks good on navy. I was amazed as I never consider green as a neutral. My fave is an Omni called Spearmint. I am not even a pastel fan!

I agree with all those who suggested silver/grey. Looks great with almost anything.
You want to be careful with variegated thread if it contains one of the colors in the quilt. It can look like you forgot to quilt that area (ask how I know). |
